Description
WeedBiocontrol is an interactive CD-ROM for those who want to learn more about the theory and practical application of biological control of weeds. It is a training and resource package for researchers, advisors and students, providing a comprehensive source of information and training material for improving their knowledge on all aspects concerning the biological control of weeds. A major feature of this interactive knowledge management product is that users can navigate through the content in any way they want to meet their own specific information and learning needs. The combination of video, images and text provides a unique way of accessing the wealth of material contained on the CD. A customised search engine provides a rapid means of directing the user to specific topics to be found on the CD.
WeedBiocontrol has been developed by a team involving CSIRO Entomology, the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines and the Centre for Pest Information Technology and Transfer (CPITT) at The University of Queensland. It contains sections on Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs); The steps involved in Weed Biocontrol; a Resource Centre and various other information sources, including References, a Glossary, and Links to relevant websites. The innovative software used in WeedBiocontrol has been developed by CPITT, with the financial support of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

- Pentium II or equivalent processor
- 52 Mb of RAM (64 Mb recommended)
- SVGA monitor
- Colour monitor capable of displaying 800 x 600 pixels at “high” colour (256 colours will display a poorer quality image)
- Hard drive space: 52 Mb plus installation of Internet Explorer if needed
- Internet Explorer 5 (if not already installed)
- Sound card
- CD-ROM drive
